Belarus needs competitive political system - head of PACE monitoring mission
MINSK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - The head of the short-term delegation of observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) at the Belarusian parliamentary elections, Gisela Wurm, said that the republic needs to create a competitive political system.
The parliamentary elections have shown that Belarus as a European country needs a competitive political system, Wurm told journalists in Minsk on Monday.
PACE believes that Belarus must immediately proceed to reforming its legal system so as to make the creation of a competitive political environment possible, she said.
PACE and the Venice Commission are ready to assist the republic in this, she also said.
The Belarusian parliamentary elections were held on September 11.
