YEKATERINBURG. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Rosatom CEO Sergei Kiriyenko will give a presentation on the work of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant (NPP) (Zarechny, Sverdlovsk region) at a general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the governor's department of regional information policy said.
"In the framework of IAEA, we were asked to speak about the development of fast neutron reactors, because topic is interesting around the world, Russia is the leader, and not only Russia, but the Sverdlovsk region is the global leader in fast reactors," the statement cited Kiriyenko as saying.
The IAEA general conference will take place on September 26-30 in Vienna, Austria.
The Beloyarsk nuclear power plant went into service in April 1964. It was initially equipped with AMB-100 and AMB-200 slow-neutron reactors, which were shut down in 1981 and 1989, respectively. The third unit is equipped with a BN-600 commercial fast breeder reactor.
It was also reported that JSC Rosenergoatom Concern during September will prepare documents for the receipt of a license for the commercial use of the fourth power-generating unit of the Beloyarsk NPP with a BN-800 fast breeder reactor.
