Ex-defense minister Tasmagambetov appointed Kazakh deputy PM - decree
ASTANA. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree on Tuesday to appoint former Kazakh Defense Minister Imangali Tasmagambetov to the post of the country's deputy prime minister, the presidential press service said.
"Imangali Nurgaliyevich Tasmagambetov will be appointed deputy prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and will be relieved of the duties of defense minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the document says.
Tasmagambetov, 59, served as Kazakhstan's prime minister in 2002-2003, after which at various points he held the posts of deputy prime minister, presidential administration chief, head of the Atyrau regional administration, mayor of Astana and Almaty, as well as secretary of state. He was appointed defense minister in October 2014.
