Norway limits Gazprom participation in OMV (Norge) to 25%

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - The Norwegian Oil Ministry has capped Gazprom's participation in OMV (Norge) under an asset swap with the parent company, Austrian OMV, to 25%, Austrian newspaper Der Standard reported.

It was reported earlier that OMV might receive a 24.98% interest in the project to develop Achimov deposits at the Urengoy field in Russia (sections 4 and 5) in exchange for Gazprom's entry into North Sea development projects.

OMV will make a cash payment to Gazprom to compensate for the restriction imposed by Norway, Der Standard said.

A Gazprom representative confirmed Der Standard's information to Interfax.

The newspaper also reported on the finalization of sale by OMV of a 49% stake in grid company Gas Connect Austria (GCA), whose details will be examined by the company's board of directors next week. Der Standard mentioned two consortiums as potential buyers: Australia's Macquarie fund together with Slovakian Eustream and German Allianz together with Italian Snam. The latter consortium has the inside track, Der Standard said.
