Russian CEC satisfied with increased security at Russian Embassy in Kyiv on State Duma election day

MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - Russian citizens' voting in the September 18 State Duma elections at polling stations opened on the premises of Russian diplomatic missions in Ukraine is proceeding normally, and the Ukrainian authorities have stepped up security at the Russian Embassy in Kyiv, Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) member Vasily Likhachyov told Interfax on Sunday.

"The polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. local time (the voting process is going normally). What counts most is that a measure was taken: some 100 policemen and representatives of Ukraine's National Guard are present in the area of the Russian Embassy in Kyiv. It is a measure of increased security," he said.

"Another piece of good news is that a polling station opened in Odesa as well. Voting there is also proceeding calmly," Likhachyov said.
