Moscow election turnout expected at 32%-34 % - city's chief election official
MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - According to the statistics in Moscow, about 5-6% of voters will cast ballots between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Moscow City Election Commission chairman Valentin Gorbunov told journalists on Sunday.
"We looked at the voting statistics of the past five years, 5-6 per cent of voters vote in the last two hours. If [we try] to forecast, we are expecting 32-34 per cent, maybe 35," he said.
As of 6 p.m., the turnout in Moscow was 28.6%, Gorbunov said.
"This figure does not reflect voting from home. Besides, many Muscovites are returning to the city and so are voting in the last few hours," said the chairman of the Moscow city election commission.
He added that the highest activity has been seen in the Nagatino single-mandate constituency (30.24% at 6 p.m.), the lowest in Chertanovo (26.4%).
