Election outcome in 1 polling station in Belgorod region annulled over ballot stuffing - Pamfilova

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - The State Duma election outcome was annulled at one polling station in the Belgorod region over a ballot stuffing situation, which was recorded on video, Russian Central Elections Commission Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said.

"According to information possessed by the Belgorod region's elections commission, members of a district elections commission, taking advantage of the absence of monitors from the polling station, stuffed ballots into a stationary ballot box at Polling Station N1198 around 7:50 p.m. on September 18. One of the monitors had left the camera on his mobile phone on when he left the room and the entire process was recorded on video," Pamfilova said in the Russian Central Elections Commission information center.

Having studied the content of the recording, the monitor informed law enforcement agencies, she said.

"When the monitor viewed the video on his phone later, he found that recording and immediately provided it to the prosecutors. The prosecutors provided that information to the Belgorod region's elections commission," she said.

"The law enforcement agencies are conducting a probe into this incident. The elections commission of the municipal district has made a decision to annul the State Duma election outcome at this polling station," Pamfilova said.
