Belarusian GDP shrinks 3% in Jan-Aug 2016

MINSK. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Belarusian GDP shrank 3% year-on-year in 8M 2016 to 60.8 billion Belarusian rubles, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) reported.

The GDP deflator index in January-August amounted to 109.4%.

According to the country's social-economic development forecast, the country's GDP is expected to grow 0.3% in 2016. In 2015, the country's GDP fell by 3.9% after growing 1.6% in 2014.

Experts at the Eurasian Development Bank expect Belarusian GDP to fall 1.9% in 2016, while the IMF expects a fall of 2.7%.
