Raising monopoly tariffs by less than inflation will curb inflation, unemployment - PM
GORKI. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Regulating the tariffs of natural monopolies according to the principle of "inflation minus," limiting their growth to less than the rate of inflation, will help keep inflation and unemployment at the current levels, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.
"It's very important that we've managed to keep unemployment at a moderate level - somewhere around 5.2% in August, while inflation, as you know, has for the first time fallen to such low figures as less than 4% for the first eight months of this year," Medvedev said at a meeting on the forecast for Russia's social and economic development and the main parameters of the federal budget.
"The model of regulating tariffs according to the principle of 'inflation minus,' meaning restricting their growth to below the level of inflation, which we will factor into the baseline forecast, will also contribute to this dynamic, I hope," Medvedev said.
