Shprygin detained as part of mass brawl case, his apartment and office being searched - police

MOSCOW. Sept 24 (Interfax) - All-Russia Fans Association head Alexander Shprygin was detained as part of a criminal investigation opened into the masterminding of a brawl between football fans in the center of Moscow on January 31, 2016, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry's branch for the city told Interfax.

"Alexander Shprygin was delivered by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Interior Ministry's branch for the city of Moscow today for investigative measures. Searches are currently being conducted at his apartment and at his workplace," it said.

These measures are being taken as part of a criminal inquiry opened on hooliganism charges following a mass brawl between football fans in the center of Moscow on January 31, 2016, the press service said.
