Kremlin spokesman not commenting on rumors of possible resignation of Investigative Committee head Bastrykin

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has described information that Alexander Bastrykin may step down as head of the Russian Investigative Committee and that the committee itself may be terminated as rumors.

"All this is so far circulating at the level of rumors. And, as is known, we do not comment on rumors," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when commenting on the relevant media reports.

"You yourselves partly answered it in your question by saying that [the published documents] do not look like authentic documents," he said.

The media reported on Monday that Investigative Committee head Bastrykin had handed in his resignation. An alleged a copy of his letter of resignation was also published in the media.
