Self-proclaimed Donetsk republic accuses Ukrainian govt forces of 123 ceasefire violations

DONETSK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has recorded 123 ceasefire violations by Ukrainian government forces over the past 24 hours.

"The situation in the Donetsk People's Republic remains tense. Ukrainian government forces are continuing to violate their obligation to observe a ceasefire. Government forces shelled the republic's territory 123 times with the use of tanks, mortars, armored fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms over the past 24 hours," Eduard Basurin, a senior official with the DPR Defense Ministry, said at a news briefing on Thursday.

In particular, 41 120mm and 82mm mines have been fired upon the community of Yasynuvata, and it has also been shelled 12 times with 125mm tank guns, Basurin said. Oleksandrivka and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk were also shelled nine times with 82mm mortars, he said.

"In addition, Ukrainian government forces opened fire on the populated areas of Zaitseve, Spartak, Oleksandrivka, Dokuchayivsk, Kominternove, the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, and the Mayorsk checkpoint, using armored fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms," he said.
