Hog production accelerates to 14.9% for 8M - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Hog production is continuing to lead in growth rates for production on the Russian meat market.

Production of hogs for slaughter grew 14.9% year-on-year in 8M this year, growth amounted to 8.4% in the same period of last year.

In August hog production rose 12.6% year-on-year to 296,300 tonnes.

Cattle production grew 1.5% to 72,800 tonnes in August and poultry output rose 1.7% to 447,600 tonnes.

In all, Russian agricultural organizations produced 819,800 tonnes of livestock and poultry for slaughter in August 2016, 5.3% more than in August 2015.

Meat production increased 7.4% in 8M compared with growth of 7.7% in 8M 2015.
