German Chancellor shares grief of Ukrainians over Babi Yar tragedy

KYIV. Sept 29 (Interfax) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel voiced words of solidarity due to the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy, the victims of which are remembered in Ukraine at this time.

She said that during a telephone conversation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian presidential website said on Thursday.

"We are together with you on this day," she said.

As reported, the Ukrainian government and the foreign high-ranking guests will participate in the events honoring the memory the Babi Yar victims in the National Historic and Memorial Reserve Babi Yar, where the Nazi committed a mass murder of Jews during the occupation of Kyiv in the days of the Second World War, at 7.00 p.m. on Thursday.
