Nazarbayev invites Putin to Almaty Universiade opening

ASTANA. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to attend the opening ceremony for the 2017 Universiade in Almaty.

"The 2017 Universiade is opening in Almaty in late January - early February next year. The entire infrastructure has been built and is ready. I invite you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, to the opening of this Universiade," Nazarbayev said at the 13th Kazakh-Russian forum of inter-regional cooperation in Astana on Tuesday.

He also invited the forum attendees to visit the EXPO 2017 international exhibition that Kazakhstan is hosting in 2017 simultaneously with a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

"Once again I invite all Russian residents to visit the international exhibition EXPO-2017, which will open on June 10, 2017. This coincides with the holding of a SCO session in Kazakhstan. We are presiding," he added.
