Rogozin's office, Rostec not commenting on Uralvagonzavod situation

MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - The office of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has declined to comment on a report that he called for tank maker Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) to be handed over to state corporation Rostec.

"We're not commenting on this information," a spokesman for Rogozin's office told Interfax on Wednesday.

Rostec also declined to comment on the report.

Business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday that Rogozin, whose brief includes the defense sector, wrote a letter to President Vladimir Putin in September in which he expressed displeasure with the performance of UVZ. Rogozin called for personnel changes at UVZ, citing the company's difficult financial and business condition and the risk of it failing to carry out work on defense contracts, the paper said, citing a source close to the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Rogozin also proposed in the letter that UVZ be handed over to Rostec, the paper said.
