Lavrov: We hope that Russian amendments to French-sponsored draft UN SC resolution on Syria be taken into account
MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed hope that the Russian amendments to the French-sponsored draft UN Security Council Resolution on Syria, which are to be presented to France on Thursday, will be reflected in the final version of the document.
"We are studying this draft now hoping that our ideas, our amendments that we will additionally present to the French colleagues after today's meeting, will be thoroughly considered and taken into account," Lavrov told reporters following the talks with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault.
"These amendments contain the proposals that imply making the demands on behalf of the Security Council that the sound opposition get separated from Jabhat al-Nusra," Lavrov said.
Lavrov recalled in this regard that the demands had been formulated earlier within the International Syria Support Group and also in the Russia-U.S. agreements.
