Aliyev, Maduro view contacts between OPEC member states, other oil-producing countries aimed at stabilizing oil prices as important
BAKU. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro highlighted the existing potential for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
Aliyev and Madura met in Istanbul on Monday, the Azerbaijani presidential website said.
They highlighted the importance of intensification of the relations interconnecting the OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) nations and countries outside the oil cartel. This will help stabilize oil prices, the two presidents said.
"The leaders noted the need to step up the efforts aimed at the strengthening of bilateral ties. Besides, they highlighted that there is a sizeable upside for the expansion of economic potential. Aliyev and Maduro emphasized that there are currently good opportunities existing for mutual investment, including in the energy sector," the website said.
The leaders also discussed the outlook for simplification of the visa regime between the two countries and exchanged views on the existing opportunities for cooperation in such areas as tourism, culture, agriculture, finance and others, it said.
