Putin, Erdogan begin meeting "in narrow format" in Istanbul

ISTANBUL. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan have begun talks in Istanbul.

The meeting is taking place at Yildiz Palace, an Interfax correspondent said. After the talks the two leaders are expected to sign bilateral documents.

This is already the two countries' leaders' second meeting in two months.

The narrow-format meeting is also attended by Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov and Energy Minister Alexander Novak, and by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlud Cavusoglu, Energy Minister Berat Albayrak and Deputy Secretary-General of the presidential administration, Ibrahim Kalin.

At talks in a broader format the participants will be joined by the Russian Armed Forces' Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachyov, Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller and Rosneft chief Igor Sechin

Turkey at the meeting will be additionally represented by its Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, National Intelligence Organization chief Hakan Fidan, Chief of the General Staff Hulusi Akar, Defense Ministry's Undersecretary for Defense Industry Ismail Demir, Botas director Burhan Ozcan and Atomic Energy Authority chief Zafer Alper.
