Deputy head of Armenian presidential secretariat resigns over disagreement with official policy
YEREVAN. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Viktor Dallakyan, a deputy head of the Armenian presidential secretariat, has resigned and declared his return to active politics.
"I have resigned as deputy head of the Armenian presidential secretariat and the president's permanent envoy to the parliament. I am declaring that I am leaving the ruling Republican Party and returning to active politics, and I will be actively participating in the parliamentary elections in 2017," Dallakyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
He said he disagrees with the domestic foreign, social, and economic policy being pursued by the authorities.
Dallakyan was first elected to the parliament in 1995. He led the Armenian delegation to the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation's Parliamentary Assembly in 2001-2003. He has also been a member of opposition parties.
