Sanctions detrimental both to Russian, global economy - Putin

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - The Western sanctions against Russia are detrimental not only to Russia but also to its foreign partners, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We often repeat like a mantra that these so-called notorious sanctions don't really affect us. They do affect. And I chiefly see the threat in the restriction on the transfer of technology. By the way, this causes damage not only to the Russian economy but also to the global economy as a whole," Putin said at the VTB Capital Investment Forum 'Russia Calling!' on Wednesday.

Russia's economy is an important sector of the global economy, he said.

"Therefore, those who are doing this are ultimately causing damage to themselves," he said.

"But I think we will certainly cope with this as well," he added.
