Govt reserve in 2017 budget at 100 bln rubles, may be increased - Medvedev

GORKI. Oct 13 (Interfax) - The draft budget for 2017 provides the government with a reserve of 100 billion rubles for implementing priority projects, which will be increased if possible, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"Just like in previous years, a special reserve will be formed of up to 100 billion rubles, and if possible its size may be increased, which will be used on those priority projects and priority goals we are engaged in," Medvedev said at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

He said that when maintaining financial stability, the government "should not hang about, and the goal, of course, is to restore economic growth."

"Therefore we are continuing with targeted support of key sectors both of industry and of agriculture," he said.

"Without stoking inflation, we will finance important infrastructure projects, we will help enterprises in the real economy, enable small and medium business to adapt to the new situation, and continue to stimulate innovation, investment and entrepreneurial activity," the prime minister said.

To do this, he said the government needs to set "clear guidelines for those that are planning to invest in the real sector."

"It is namely because of this we are returning to three-year budget planning," Medvedev said.
