Russian military are ready to declare "humanitarian pauses" in Syria - General Staff

MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is ready to introduce "humanitarian pauses" in Syria, and also promote the delivery of humanitarian assistance, Sergei Rudskoi, the head of the Main Operative Department of the Russian General Staff, told reporters on Thursday.

"We are still ready to do everything to promote the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the eastern districts of Aleppo, including the introduction of 'humanitarian pauses'," Rudskoi said.

This requires safety assurances from militant groups in order to avoid a repeat of the September 19 attack on a UN humanitarian convoy, he said.
