DPR reports Ukrainian offensive in southern part of republic

DONETSK. Oct 14 (Interfax) - A representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic reported a sharp aggravation of the military situation near the populated area Leninske and accused Ukraine of neglecting its obligations.

"We have to state a sharp aggravation of the military situation in the southern part of the republic. Today, the Ukrainian side resumed its prevocational actions on the DPR, despite the signed Minsk agreements and decisions on the withdrawal of equipment and disengagement," DPR envoy Denis Pushilin said in a statement.

"After the shelling using caliber 152 mm weapons, the Ukrainian units began an offensive in the Leninske area. The Ukrainians are using tanks, artillery and mortars in the clash. Moreover, the Ukrainian Armed Forces respond to every request for ceasefire with more fire and they use pauses to regroup. Attempts made by the JCCC and the OSCE SMM to put in place a ceasefire regime did not prevent the aggravation, either," the report said.

Pushilin called the actions by the Ukrainian military outrageous, saying that they "clearly demonstrate neglect by Ukraine of the agreements signed and the obligations assumed."
