State prosecutors classify explosion outside Abkhazian state TV and radio company's building as terror attack
SUKHUM. Oct 17 (Interfax) - The Sukhum City Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case following today's explosion on the premises of the Abkhazian state television and radio company, City Prosecutor Ruslan Tyrkba told Interfax.
The criminal proceedings have been launched under two articles of the Abkhazian Criminal Code on suspicion of an 'act of terror' and 'illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and handling of explosive devices'.
"The crime scene investigation is over now. Measures are underway to establish the identity of the deceased," Tyrkba said.
It was reported earlier that on Monday morning, an unknown man blew himself up outside the entrance to the building where the Abkhazian state television and radio company is headquartered. The man died at the scene. No other casualties have been reported.
