Militants in Syria receiving U.S.-made Tow anti-tank guided missile systems - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The terrorists in Syria are not giving up the attempts to restore the supply routes for the gangs, which had entrenched in the eastern part of Aleppo, including with the weapons and ammunition produced in the West, chief of the Main Operations Department of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Lieut. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi said.
"On October 14, the terrorists have undertaken the attacks on the positions of the governmental forces in the directions of An-Nasr, Al-Ansari, Han-Tuman and Er-Ramusi, but having been stuck into resistance retreated to the initial positions. According to the information that came from several sources, the militants continue to receive advanced types of weapons, including the U.S.-produced Tow anti-tank guided missile systems," Rudskoi told a briefing on Monday.
"The Russian aviation is constantly performing the strikes on the approaching replenishments and convoys with weapons at the approaches to the city," he said.
"Despite the American partners having reneged on separating terrorists from the 'moderate opposition, the Russian Federation is working with UN and the countries having influence on Jabhat al-Nusra [a terror group banned in Russia] on getting their forces to pull out from Aleppo in accordance with the initiative proposed by UN Secretary General's Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura," the Russian general said.
