Russian president agrees to prime minister's proposal to appoint Mutko as deputy PM, Kolobkov as sports minister

NOVO-OGAREVO. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev presented to Russian President Vladimir Putin the candidacy of Vitaly Mutko for the position of the vice prime minister in charge of the matters related to sports, tourism and the youth policy, at the same time presenting the candidacy of Pavel Kolobkov for the position of the sports minister.

Medvedev submitted to the Putin a report to support establishment of the position of the vice prime minister in charge of sports, tourism, and the youth policy. He also referred to the current sports minister, Vitaly Mutko, as a candidate for the position.

Medvedev also proposed to appoint Deputy Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov as the new sports minister.

Putin agreed to Medvedev's proposals.

Medvedev commissioned the Russian Government Apparatus with drafting appropriate acts to submit to the Presidential Administration for their signature by the head of state.

Putin announced during the meeting of the presidential council on sports on October 11 that a new vice prime minister would join the Russian government to become in charge of the package of matters that includes sports, tourism and youth policy.
