Energoatom could involve GE Power in modernizing Ukrainian NPP equipment
KYIV. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom and GE Power Sp. z o.o. on October 19 signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation in modernization of equipment of Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs), the press service of Energoatom said.
The press service said that the memorandum covers cooperation between the two companies in increasing the capacity of generators of reactors, their efficiency and safety via modernization of equipment.
It aims at expanding cooperation in long-term servicing of equipment installed at NPPs and implementing projects based on modern technical solutions and financial tools.
"We have a large potential for joint operations both in servicing generators modernized using Alstom technology and under new projects to improve electrotechnical equipment of Ukrainian NPPs. It is important for Energoatom, especially from the point of view of implementing the programs to increase the efficiency and safety of NPP reactors," Energoatom President Yuriy Nedashkovsky said.
Energoatom said that France's Alstom Power - a part of U.S. GE Power since November 2015 - modernized starters of generators of reactors at Rivne and Yuzhnoukrainsk NPPs in 2008.
