Azerbaijani army's 'preemptive strike' inflicts casualties on hostiles in Karabakh - Baku

BAKU. Oct 27 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have prevented an act of sabotage by the Armenian army in the Karabakh conflict zone, Baku said.

"Units from the Armenian Armed Forces took advantage of the bad weather and tried to approach our positions in the southern sector of the front in the evening of October 26 for sabotage purposes. The enemy's movement was detected, and a preemptive strike was delivered," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a report.

"The enemy suffered casualties and had to retreat," the ministry said.

It also said that the Armenian army breached the truce 26 times on the contact line in the past 24 hours. Large-caliber machineguns were fired from the territory of Armenia and the 'occupied Azerbaijani lands', it said.

The press service of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that an NKR Defense Army serviceman was killed as result of an Azerbaijani breach of the ceasefire.
