Russia has no such possibilities yet to impact outcome of elections in West - Putin

SOCHI. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he does have a powerful propagandistic machine capable to influence the outcome of elections in western countries, but he would not refuse to have it.

"Yes, friends, I would like to have such a propagandistic machine in Russia, but this is, unfortunately, not so. We do not have such global media outlets as CNN, BBC and some others. We do not have such possibilities yet," Putin said at a plenary session of the Valdai discussion club in Sochi.

He commented so on the allegations that the voters in the West are frequently making their choice under the impact of the Russian propaganda.

"The public movements, which had quite recently been considered as too left or too right, are advancing to the forefront, pushing back the political heavyweights," the head of state said.

"At first, they hasted to declare such inappropriate results as a certain anomaly, accident," he said.

"When they [inappropriate results] started to recur, they began saying that the society does not understand those, who are on the olympus of power. And this even comes down to hysteria, say, this is a consequence of foreign, as a rule, Russian propaganda," the president said.
