Nurgaliyev discusses Abkhaz-Georgian border protection in Abkhazia

SUKHUM. Oct 28 (Interfax) - During a meeting with Abkhaz President Raul Khadzhimba in Sukhum on Friday, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Rashid Nurgaliyev told him about the work done during the visit to the republic of a delegation of the Russian Security Council, the press service for the republic's president said.

Specifically, Nurgaliyev spoke about the visits to the Tkvarcheli district and the Abkhaz-Georgian border. "New elements of the operative situation with the protection of the state border of Abkhazia and Georgia were discussed," he said.

Nurgaliyev said all tasks are being achieved. "Nothing remained unfulfilled in this period of work. And the main thing is that specific results were achieved. The results that had been expected," he said.

Khadzhimba, for his part, said he has certain hopes for cooperation between the two countries' law enforcement, defense and security services. "Without cooperation, without interaction with Russia it will be impossible to improve the situation in the republic. And this work is very important to us," he said.
