Georgian PM thanks citizens for confidence in Georgian Dream, which received constitutional majority in parliament

TBILISI. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling party, Georgian Dream, Giorgi Kvirikashvili congratulated the people of Georgia on the success of the parliamentary election.

"Democracy won in our country today. This is a victory of the Georgian people, the Georgian state," Kvirikashvili said at a briefing on Monday.

He said that Georgia made another step to a better future, development and prosperity. "By all accounts, the parliamentary election of 2016 was fair, free, transparent and democratic," he said.

The prime minister thanked the voters for confidence placed in the Georgian Dream party. "The Georgian Dream is a great responsibility for me personally and all members of our team. I believe we will shoulder this responsibility with dignity and take the country to a whole new level of development," Kvirikashvili said.

He also said that by supporting to the Georgian Dream the community voted for freedom, stability, rapid development and the European future of Georgia. "Positive results of this election will necessary have an impact on the improvement of the life of every one of us," he said.

"The constitutional majority for the Georgian Dream means even greater responsibility before our people," Kvirikashvili said, noting that the government has ambitious plans aimed at prosperity of every citizen.

Following the parliamentary election, the Georgian Dream party will receive 115 deputy seats out of 150 in the new parliament, two seats more that the constitutional majority.
