Putin at meeting with Berdimuhamedow states doubled import growth from Turkmenistan to Russia last year

SOCHI (Bocharov Ruchei). Nov 1 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that imports from Turkmenistan to Russia doubled last year and invited the Turkmen leader to discuss unresolved issues.

"At the beginning of the talks, which we agreed to hold with you in an absolutely narrow one-on-one format, I would like to note that despite certain difficulties in the economic sphere, our trade turnover is growing in the ruble equivalent," Putin said at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

Meanwhile, trade turnover has somehow dropped in the dollar equivalent, he said. "The volumes of our mutual supplies are at the appropriate level. Imports from your country to us doubled in 2015, which cannot but make us glad. But, of course, there is something to work on. We also have unsettled issues. We will discuss all this today," Putin said.

He congratulated Turkmenistan on its 25th independence anniversary and recalled that the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be also celebrated next year. "I want to thank you once again for having made the decision to visit us," Putin said.
