Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Brazil may fall in 2016
ALMATY. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Trade volume between Brazil and Kazakhstan in 2016 is expected be between $50 and $100 million, Almir Ribeiro Americo from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency Apex-Brasil told Interfax-Kazakhstan.
"The trade turnover between Brazil and Kazakhstan does not correspond at the moment to its actual potential. Our turnover used to be well above $100 million but this year the turnover will be lower because of the crisis. Our goal is to restore trade turnover. We expect it to be between $50 and $100 million this year," Americo said.
In 2015, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $147.241 million. In January-September 2016 the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Brazil was at about $38 million.
"Sometimes one deal can change the situation. Brazil sells aircraft to Kazakhstan. One aircraft costs about $50 million. This can change the whole picture," Americo said.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, primary Brazilian exports to Kazakhstan are sugar cane and sucrose, civilian aircraft, tobacco, pumps, frozen cattle meat, fruit juices, ferrous metals, as well as other food and agricultural raw materials. Kazakhstan exports sulfur to Brazil.
