Russian, Japanese economy ministers to prepare not only economic proposals before Putin's visit to Tokyo
MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The Russian and Japanese economy ministers will prepare not only economic but also political proposals before the Russian president's visit to Tokyo, Japanese Trade, Economy, and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko said.
"We should prepare the contents of economic cooperation before the meeting in December so that our two leaders could openly discuss various issues, including not only economic matters but also the conclusion of a peace treaty, security, culture, and everything that concerns bilateral relations," Seko said at the first meeting of the Russian-Japanese high-level cooperation taskforce attended also by Russian Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev on Thursday.
"Our meeting today is an opportunity to efficiently prepare for the December summit, and we must do all we can to properly prepare the upcoming meeting between our two leaders," Seko said.
The Japanese minister said he hoped the Russian-Japanese high-level cooperation taskforce would have a constructive discussion.
President Vladimir Putin is to visit Japan and hold negotiations with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on December 15.
