Militants able to leave Aleppo via 2 corridors - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Militants are able to leave the Syrian city of Aleppo with their weapons via two corridors, and another six corridors are intended for civilians' exit, as well as for the evacuation of the sick and wounded, said Lieut. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi, chief of the main operational directorate of the Russian Armed Forces' General Staff.
"Two corridors have been opened for the exit of militants with their weapons. The first one leads to the Syrian-Turkish border, starts at the junction of the Janul-Duwar roads and passes along the Castello road. The second one leads from the Souq al-Hai market through the al-Masharka road to the Damascus-Aleppo road and further on to Idlib," he said at a press briefing on Thursday.
"Buses and ambulances have been prepared" to evacuate the sick and wounded, he said.
"By 8 a.m. on November 4, these vehicles will be concentrated at the entrance to the humanitarian corridors," the general said.
"Six corridors are intended for civilians' exit and for the evacuation of the sick and wounded," he said.
The entrances to these corridors are located near the Taiba madrasa, the Burj restaurant, near the al-Shakhour park, near the Adj Munir school, as well as the Sheikh Saeed Mosque and Masjid, the general said.
"The city administration is distributing hot food and providing medical aid near these humanitarian corridors. Addition beds have been prepared in hospitals of western Aleppo,' Rudskoi said.
During the humanitarian pause, Syrian government forces and hardware will be pulled back from the routes intended for armed persons' exit "to distances that will allow militants to safely leave Aleppo," he said.
