Double doping control standards in various countries undermine trust in entire system - ROC head Zhukov
MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Certain countries do not admit foreign specialists to their territory for doping control purposes, while Russia is compelled to be fully transparent, Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) President Alexander Zhukov said.
"Some countries, for example, Russia are compelled to fully open its territory for total doping control in any place. Other states are simply prohibiting doping control by foreign actors. Such double-standard practices undermine confidence in the entire system," Zhukov said at the International Olympic Committee on Monday.
Russia shares general concerns about the current state of affairs in the global anti-doping system, while realizing that the national system has suffered a major failure and working "to restart it," he said.
"We are seeking to actually set an example of a new universal anti-doping model. True, we are open to cooperation and are ready to resolve any problems together and to build a common anti-doping system," the Russian Olympic Committee press service quoted Zhukov as saying.
