State Duma speaker proposes developing inter-parliamentary ties with U.S
MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin favors the development of ties with the U.S. Congress.
"We believe parliamentary relations should be developing, especially following the elections that have just been held in the U.S., where the Republicans have won in the elections to the U.S. Congress," Volodin told journalists on Wednesday.
The State Duma has always sought to build relations based on principles of mutual respect, and Russian parliamentarians believe such relations should also be maintained with their U.S. counterparts, he said.
"On our part, we will be doing what we can to make our relations constructive so that we can discuss any issues and hear each other. This is a two-way street, and there should be no double standards here," Volodin said.
