AliExpress starts selling Procter & Gamble, Henkel, Durex products
MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Online marketplace AliExpress, a division of China's Alibaba Group, is starting to work with Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), the head of Alibaba Group office in Russia, Mark Zavadsky said in an interview with Interfax.
The company has reached agreements with the Russian divisions of Procter & Gamble, Henkel and Durex on the sale of their products on the AliExpress website.
"We want to become a platform on which Russians do not only buy exotic or unusual products, or products that, perhaps, it would be cool to have but aren't necessities. We want to become a platform on which Russians buy products that are necessities," Zavadsky said.
AliExpress plans to continue to enter new categories of goods, which is consistent with the company's strategy aimed at organic growth, he said.
The company is not yet providing forecasts for sales of FMCG on the website, but sees "great potential" in this category.
The company also plans to actively develop sales of virtual products. It was reported earlier that AliExpress and Ak Bars Bank launched a project to sell financial services on the website. Based on the results of the project with Ak Bars, AliExpress plans to develop joint projects with other players in the financial sector.
