Russian Prosecutor General's Office suggests Supreme Court should leave Navalny's, Ofitserov's conviction in Kirovles case unchanged

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office believes the Supreme Court should leave unchanged the sentence handed down earlier for Alexei Navalny and Pyotr Ofitserov in the so-called Kirovles case.

"I propose reopening proceedings in the case related to Navalny and Ofitserov and leaving the sentence unchanged," Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Vinnichenko said at a Russian Supreme Court presidium hearing on Wednesday.

While the court should take into consideration the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) judgment on the case, its conclusions have not been confirmed and its objections cannot influence the sentence, Vinnichenko said.
