Militants kill about 30 people in shooting of rally in Aleppo - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - About 30 people were killed by militants in a shooting at a spontaneous rally in Aleppo, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Wednesday.

"A total of 27 people were killed and hundreds injured in a shooting at a spontaneous rally in the districts of Al-Amiriyah and Al-Firdaws yesterday," he said.

Konashenkov said that 11 protest rallies had taken place in Aleppo's districts controlled by terrorists since the beginning of the week.

Spontaneous rallies of civilians, in which over 1,500 people participated, took place in four Aleppo districts in the past 24 hours alone, Konashenkov said.

He said that civilians demand the looting of food depots stop, that militants are forced to leave the city or the civilian population allowed to exit to safe areas.

"All rallies of civilians were brutally suppressed by militants," he said.

"According to civilians who escaped from Aleppo, terrorists carry out punitive actions in all districts controlled by them almost on a daily basis. They execute not only civilians, but also all militants deciding to cease resistance," Konashenkov said.

He said the Russian military had delivered 17 tonnes of humanitarian aid to nine districts of Aleppo within the week.
