Terrorism has led Syria to humanitarian catastrophe - Syrian ambassador in Moscow
MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad places primary responsibility for the humanitarian catastrophe in his country on terrorists.
"Terrorism is the cause of the humanitarian catastrophe in the country. Actions by terrorist groups supported by specific countries, specifically, the destruction of Syrian citizens, the obstruction of the work of state establishments or infliction of serious damage on them, systematic destruction by terrorists [...] of the infrastructure promoted this humanitarian catastrophe," the diplomat said at the conference "Middle East on Fire: Who Will Defend Christians" on Thursday.
"It is obvious that people continue suffering as soon as terrorism enters their homes," he said.
Haddad also said the European sanctions have an influence on the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the country.
