Russian deputy foreign minister and new Belgian ambassador discuss problems in bilateral relations, possible solutions

MOSCOW. Nov 18 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov and Belgium's recently appointed Ambassador to Russia Jean-Arthur Regibeau have discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations between Moscow and Brussels.

"At their meeting, the sides discussed the state of Russian-Belgian relations, existing obstacles to their development, as well as measures that can be taken by both sides to intensify mutually advantageous bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"Individual issues on the international agenda were addressed as well," it said.

The new Belgian ambassador also forwarded copies of his credentials to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
