State support of agriculture from federal budget to remain in 2017-2019 - Tkachev

KURSK. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Support of agriculture in Russia will be maintained in the next few years, Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev said at a meeting dedicated to the state of and prospects for agricultural development, which took place on Tuesday in Kursk.

"Despite the difficult situation and the reduction of a number of federal budget items, agricultural support will remain in 2017-2019," Tkachev said.

He said that agriculture has become the most rapidly developing sector of the economy in Russia.

The minister said that due to the almost 118 million tonnes of grain harvested this year, a record result for the past several decades, Russia again became one of the leading players on the global food market.
