Russian diplomats ask Ukrainian authorities to show citizenship documents of 2 detained servicemen, arrange their meeting with consul
KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax) - The Russian General Consulate in Odesa has requested that Ukrainian authorities produce documentary evidence which substantiates the identity and citizenship of servicemen Alexander Baranov and Maxim Odintsov, detained on the border with Crimea.
"Given the information distributed in Ukrainian media about the detention of Russian citizens Odintsov and Baranov by the [Ukrainian Security Service] SBU bodies on November 20, the Russian General Consulate in Odesa filed a note with the Ukrainian side requesting they present copies of the documents which confirm their identity and citizenship, as well as arrange a meeting between a Russian consular employee and the detainees," the press service of the Russian Embassy in Kyiv told Interfax.
On November 21, the Ukrainian Security Service reported the detention of two deserters at the Chongar crossing point on the border with Crimea.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Ukrainian special services have detained and delivered two Russian servicemen from Crimea.
On November 22, the court arrested Baranov and Odintsov with the possibility for a bailout, Ukrainian Security Service head Vasyl Hrytsak said.
