Kyiv court rules to question Yanukovych via video link on Nov 25

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Kyiv's Svyatoshynsky District Court ruled on November 25 to question former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and former Ukrainian Interior Ministry's Interior Forces Commander Stanislav Shulyak via video link as witnesses in a case against five former members of the Berkut special task force.

Judge Serhiy Dyachuk, presiding over the hearing, announced on Tuesday that the video system was ready for a questioning procedure, and the court, in the presence of the parties to the proceedings, will decide in the next session on November 24 whether the evidence may be examined this way.

However, one of the accused Berkut members, Oleh Yanishevsky, asked the court on Tuesday to postpone the hearing to November 25, as he has had a high temperature for the second day.

The court took this into consideration, and ruled to modify the evidence examination procedure, planning Yanukovych's and Shulyak's questioning via video link in the next hearing. "The court announces a recess in the proceedings to organize the said process until 1:00 p.m. on November 25, 2016," Judge Dyachuk said.
