Russia-China relations reach best stage in their development - China Central Military Commission vice-chairman

BEIJING. Nov 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia-China relations have reached the best stage in their development, China Central Military Commission Vice-Chairman Xu Qiliang on Wednesday.

"Thanks to personal efforts of the two chiefs of state, China-Russia relations have been rapidly growing and we can say that they have reached the best stage in their development," Xu said at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday.

In his opinion, the two leaders, who have recently met again at the APEC summit in Peru, are true friends, and this friendship is contributing to the intensive development of relations between Russia and China.

"The two countries are cooperating in every area," Xu said.

China and Russia "are working shoulder to shoulder" in international affairs, he said.

"This not only meets fundamental interests of our countries but also has a great significance for peace and stability in the region and the world at large," the Chinese military commander said.

"Military relations between our countries have been developing rapidly and dynamically. We are ready to use the groundwork we have laid to further relations between our countries and their armed forces," Xu said.

The current visit of Shoigu to China "will play an important role in the promotion of relations between the two countries," he said.
