Federal Guard Service Gen. Lopyrev indicted - lawyer

MOSCOW. Nov 25 (Interfax) - Investigators have charged Federal Guard Service (FSO) General Gennady Lopyrev with a crime relating to his professional activity, his lawyer Ruslan Zakalyuzhny told Interfax.

"Today my client Gennady Lopyrev has been indicted of a crime relating to his professional activity. When questioned as an accused he pleaded not guilty," Zakalyuzhny said on Friday.

The lawyer would not say what exactly his client is being accused of, citing non-disclosure and the secrecy of the case.

On Friday investigators are going to petition for Lopyrev's detention, the lawyer said.

"We will be asking for his house arrest," Zakalyuzhny said.

Earlier on Friday an FSO spokesperson said Lopyrev had been held on suspicion of wrongdoing and was now under investigation.
