Azerbaijani MP calls for review of relations with Russia over Moscow's support for Armenia
BAKU. Nov 29 (Interfax) - A member of Azerbaijan's parliament (Milli Mejlis), Gudrat Hasanguliyev, has called for a review of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia as Moscow supports Yerevan.
"Azerbaijan is doing everything necessary today to develop strategic relations with Russia. However, I have always said that we cannot settle the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict because Russia stands behind Armenia," Hasanguliyev said at a parliamentary session on Tuesday.
Russia has to decide what it needs from Azerbaijan, he said.
"We ought to put this question to Moscow. If Russia continues to support Armenia, we will have to review our bilateral relations with Moscow," he said.
Moscow's protection gives a feeling of impunity to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, he said.
"During the armed clashes in April, Sargsyan, like a mouse, was looking for a crack in which to hide. And today he feels like a lion, and, counting on Iskander [missile systems], he considers himself strong," the MP said.
