Kyrgyzstan expects Iranian president's visit in December - Atambayev

BISHKEK. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan will support Iran in the issues of joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said.

"We support and will continue supporting Iran, including on the issues of joining the SCO," the Kyrgyz president said at a press conference on Thursday.

He said he is glad that Kyrgyzstan is harmonizing relations with Iran.

"It happened that due to health reasons I could not receive Iranian President Hassan Rouhani here in September or early October, I am grateful to him for showing understanding. We expect him here with a visit already this month and we will discuss many issues which are to be aimed at intensification of our cooperation," Atambayev said.
